Notes for Henry John Tewsley
(Clinton New Era - Friday Mar 7, 1890)

In Clinton, on 5th inst. Henry Tewsley aged 62 Years, 2 Months and 15 days. Funeral at 4:00 PM on Friday March 7.

Sudden Death

On Wednesday afternoon, Mr. Henry Tewsley, who has not been well for some time, though able to be about, called in to see his medical advisor, and after talking with him for a short while, started for home. Feeling faint, he sent for the sleigh of his son-in-law, Mr. R. Fitzsimmons, who conveyed him home, and he had not been inside many minutes before he fell over backwards and instantly expired. Deceased had been a resident of the town for nearly 30 years. For several of these he has been engaged in the butchering business and was at the time of his death. A hard-working, industrious man, he enjoyed general confidence and respect. Of a quiet and reserved disposition, he took very little interest in general public affairs, and his sudden death has caused a wide-spread feeling of sympathy. His wife, 2 sons and 2 daughters survive him; the latter are both married, one Mrs Fitzsimmons residing in town, and the other Mrs. R. Fox, residing at Morden, Manitoba. The funeral will take place this afternoon (Friday) at 4:00 o'clock.

(Welland Tribune, March 7, 1890 - pg 8)

Henry Tewsley, an old and respected resident of Clinton, Ontario (says the Toronto Globe), died suddenly on Wednesday. Deceased though ailing for the past two weeks was apparently in good health and was on the street 5 minutes before his death and talked with his friends in the usual way.

He leaves a widow, daughter of the late Alex. Winslow of Thorold and 4 children, 3 of whom are married. The deceased was a brother of James Tewsley of St. Catharine's, John Tewsley, Wainfleet and Mrs. Geo Sidey of Welland.
Notes for Anne (Spouse 1)

In Clinton, on Sept 27, Anna WINSLOW, relict of the late Henry Tewsley, aged 70 years.

We are sorry to announce the death of Mrs. Tewsley, relict of the late H. TEWSLEY, which occurred on Thursday last, after an illness of about four weeks duration. Deceased came to this country from Ireland with her parents when quite young, settling in the vicinity of Thorold. In the early 60's she moved to Clinton with her late husband and has been a continuous resident of this town ever since. She was a woman of very genial temperament, and had attained the age of 70 years. She was a member of the Rattenbury St. Methodist Church; her remains were followed to their final resting place in Clinton Cemetery Saturday by a number of her old friends who thus showed their respect and sympathy. She leaves two sons and two daughters, of the latter, Mrs. R. Fitzsimons being the only resident here: her second daughter is Mrs. R. Fox, of Winnipeg; one son is in the States, the other in Manitoba.
