207The following is a possibility of David’s lineage-
David Mowat b 1799 Fetteresso.
This David Mowat and his father John Mowat are in the 1841 and 1851 censuses
residing at Qiuthal,Glenbervie, both Blacksmiths. Seems to be a family business and
quite possibly they were were running the smithy in the same place years before.
Ann Jervis' brother Edward Jervis was living in a dwelling
at Qiuthal too, in 1841. Ann Jervis could have have had a relationship with David Mowat
the Blacksmith while visiting her brother.

Location  of Qiuthal see map http://www.geograph.org.uk/gridref/NO7884

In 1851 this David Mowat is still at Qiuthal, his birthplace stated as Fordoun.
1860 his father John died and David is a pauper formerly a blacksmith  age age 62
place of birth now recorded as Fettercairn, living with his cousin Margaret Turnbull,
1871 in a different cottage still in Glenbervie, still with his cousin.
